I have just completed a Starting Bee-keeping course with Swindon bee-keepers. I have wanted to keep bees for some time and it was fascinating to learn more about the practical workings of a hive from someone who has been keeping bees for 18 years. I hope to get my first hive in the spring, so need top decide which kind of hive to buy, and where to locate my hive. I will need to find the best Feng Shui spot for my bees – a sunny but sheltered site, with some privacy and protection against possible vandals or thieves. I shall endeavour to only use natural materials, and take care of them with the minimum of disturbance to the harmony of the hive.
