The world of Feng Shui and healing can be a confusing business for newcomers and the more experienced alike!

So I have written some articles answering that most fundamental question – ‘What is…?’

If there are any other topics that you’d be interested in knowing more about, just let me know at the contact page.

Qi/Chi

What is Qi/Chi? (pronounced ‘key’ & may be spelt ‘Qi’ or ‘Chi’).

Qi /Chi is the Chinese word for the subtle energy flow linking everything in the universe. Both physical and metaphysical, it describes the life force of plants, animals, people, land, sea, the elements, weather, sun, moon and stars and is present in non-living objects too. It is the energy that martial artists harness, that acupuncturists move with their pins, and Feng Shui consultants seek to analyse and influence. It describes the force that drives good luck or misfortune, good health or sickness.

“Like the quantum field, qi is conceived as a tenuous and non-perceptible form of matter which is present throughout space and can condense into solid material objects. The field, or qi, is not only the underlying essence of all material objects, but also carries their mutual interactions in the form of waves.” – Source: The Tao of Physics, Fritjof Capra

We resonate with the world around us, which is a vast invisible mass of moving energy: the Zero Point field.

“The field is the only reality” – Source: Albert Einstein

Feng Shui divides the Qi that affects a building into three groups:

Heaven Qi

The forces of Sprit, nature, the sun, moon, planets and stars that affect our lives. It includes the effects of the weather & climate, the seasons and time factor. Heaven’s qi is associated with our life’s path (destiny) and luck.

Earth Qi.

This is the energy of the landscapes and waterways of the planet, and the earth’s magnetic field that affect our homes.

Human Qi

Your energy will affect your surroundings. Most Feng Shui consultants use some kind of astrology to determine how your energy is compatible with other people and your home.

‘Sheng Qi’ and ‘Sha Qi’

Feng Shui looks at the way the energy of our environments affect our five senses (and sixth sense), and divides Qi into beneficial ‘Sheng qi’ that nourishes your well-being, and harmful ‘sha qi’ that has a negative influence on you and your home.

What is Feng Shui? (fungshway, fung shway, feng shway, fengshui)

Feng Shui (pronounced ‘Fung Schway’) literally translates to ‘wind water’, which reflects the way that life force energy (ki) moves to and around a building or place.

The art and science of Feng Shui seeks to influence the movement and quality of energy in our homes to create harmony and encourage good health, wealth and happiness.

“Feng Shui is the practise of analysing and influencing the interaction between people, buildings and the environment in order to enhance quality of life. Originating in Ancient China, it’s basis is qi, which is vital energy present in everything.”

Feng Shui Burial

  • A Feng Shui Burial site was a tradition carried out by very wealthy Chinese families. A tomb or grave would be placed in a Feng Shui spot, where the Earth energy would best support the bones of their ancestors.

Their intention followed the ideas of Confucious, that by respecting and honouring your elders/ancestors, you would be blessed with good fortune. Similar to the way that some families spend a fortune on a wedding day, some Chinese families would go bankrupt to pay for an expensive burial site, such was their belief in its importance.

    Feng Shui Compass

A Feng Shui Compass or ‘Luopan Compass’ is a model of the cosmos. The Feng Shui Compass consists of a central space ‘Heaven’s pool’ that contains the magnetic needle which points south, a round inner plate with many rings with different Feng Shui meanings (including the energies within the Bagua) and an outer square plate with a spirit level, that may be pressed against a wall to determine the facing direction for a building.

There are different types of Luopan Compass used today, the one Sue uses was designed by Howard Choy and made by Ricky Than in Hong Kong

    Feng Shui Cure

The term ‘Feng Shui Cure’ is used to describe a Feng Shui remedy which we place in a home to improve the quality of the qi for this house and the client’s needs e.g. to introduce one of the five elements (wood, fire, earth, metal or water), to bring stillness/movement, or to create symbollic imagery.

The word ‘cure’ however is actually a mis-translation of the Chinese term ‘Ji Far’, which is more closely translated to the words: ‘explain, understand, transform’, which has a different connotation than ‘cure’.

    Angelic Reiki

By Kevin & Chrsitine Core (founders of Angelic Reiki)

‘There are many differences between the Reiki systems that are taught in the world and Angelic Reiki. Anybody who does the course can definitely feel these differences, however, people do need to have a description of the main differences that define this system in regards to others.

Firstly, It is now generally accepted that the system of healing known as Reiki is the original system of healing that was practiced in Atlantis. Again, it is widely accepted that the civilisation of Atlantis was higher in consciousness in regards contacting Divine Wisdom than our society today. They used vibrational symbols to contact divine energies which when applied to a closed system, such as the physical body, would bring balance and alignment to the archetypes upon which that body was formed. This is the modus operandi of all healing. Humanity, as part of the root race which was Atlantis had chosen the steady descent into the density of the material world. This cause the programming held in the base chakra, the fight and flight programming which created the leader of the pack, the tribe, the King, to also create ego. As ego developed it created rifts in the priests of Atlantis causing enmity, self-centeredness, and ultimately lead to the dissolution of Atlantis through the misuse of energies for personal gain. Likewise, all of the esoteric practices used by the priests of Atlantis dropped into a state of disconnection to Divine Archetypes and the purity was lost. The healing system of the Atlantian’s was rediscovered by Dr Usui in the 1880s, due to humanity now being on the opposite of the 26,000 year cycle of our solar system, where Atlantis was destroyed. There is an esoteric interplay in any cycle, whereby points on that cycle are at 180° to each other. The system of healing that Dr Usui rediscovered has been strictly preserved through the lineage of the purity of transmission of the symbols that Dr Usui brought forward. The spiritual perception of humanity in the 1880s encompassed the fact that we were part of a system known as the Solar System. What this means is that intellectual/spiritual humanity at that time could only perceive themselves to be part of the Solar System, and could not cognize anything beyond that. Remembering that the channel can only bring through where they are in consciousness at any one time, the symbols that Dr Usui contacted were given out at the vibration of humanity at that time, which was solar consciousness. Taking into account that all symbols have seven levels through which they can be interpreted, the symbols given out by Dr Usui were thereby given out at the vibration of solar plexus. Since the 1880s, humanity has expanded in consciousness at an accelerated rate. After the Second World War, a leap in consciousness caused by the massive clearing of that war, allowed humanity to expand its consciousness to embrace the fact that we are one solar system in a galaxy of many solar systems. This could be termed galactic consciousness. This was reflected in the popular rise of science fiction, and the possibility that there were other races in the Galaxy. All of the Reiki systems which have developed since this time have expanded on the traditional Reiki symbols, and given those symbols out at the new vibration of galactic consciousness, which equates with the heart chakra. Since the Harmonic Convergence of 1987, another leap in consciousness ensued which has allowed the Reiki symbols to now be given at higher vibration’s than heart chakra. When Angelic Reiki was first channelled in 2003, we were aware that the attunement’s to the symbols were taking place at the throat chakra vibration. The vibration of the attunement’s has steadily increased since this time. With the anchoring of the Crystal Grid in November, 2005, we were made aware that for the first time since Atlantian times the healing symbols of Atlantis have the possibility of being given out at the full 7 levels of form and Divine Form. In Angelic Reiki all of the symbols given, are given through the full 7 levels of form and Divine form. However, because of the strict adherence to the vibration given out by Dr Usui through the transmission of lineage, our feeling is that the symbols of the Usui Reiki system are still only been given at the vibration of heart chakra. This does not detract from the power of Usui Reiki as a healing tool. It is up to the individual student to feel the vibration of the system to which they are attracted, and make a choice therein.

Secondly, From time immemorial, through all of the mystery school traditions, activation’s in consciousness have been given by the Master to the student through initiation. Before initiations were given the student had to prove, often through physical trial, their worthiness to receive the initiation. This practice has been somewhat diluted by the New-Age Movement. An initiation is an energetic attunement of the Masters consciousness imprinted up on the consciousness of the student. It is a coming together; an overlighting of one consciousness by another, in order to raise the vibration and awareness of that consciousness into the radiant light of the Master. Through the general availability of attunements to Usui Reiki, and other forms of Reiki, whereby the teacher has attained master level through physical attendance on the course only, without the physical and mental extended preparation and rigidity of lifestyle practised by initiates of the old mystery schools, some of the attunements given today through the Reiki system are not of the highest. The student receiving such an initiation can open themselves to be imprinted by a consciousness that is still working through egoic issues, emotional drama and personality attachments. The Angelic Reiki system has always intended to be a system of healing, that through the use of symbols which channel Divine Archetypal Energies, will attune the seven bodies of man to their original divine vibration. In order that these symbols are transmitted to students in their purity, they are not given as an initiation by the teacher who is holding the workshop. That teacher opens up a space, a vortex of energy, whereby the Angelic Kingdom manifests their energy around each student and anchors the symbols into the appropriate chakras. The symbols are thereby given at divine vibration, and as such, affect the consciousness of each student from the moment they are given.

Thirdly, In this system there are the traditional initiations, one through four. In addition to these, there are two other initiations which are purely angelic. The angelic kingdom was created as part of an earlier round, an earlier evolution of this universe. There is, therefore, a vast difference between the vibration of an Angel and the vibration of an incarnated human being. This being recognized, the Archangel Metatron insisted that an initiation into the angelic vibration be an integral part of this system. It is my experience that these initiations into the angelic vibration are the most profound part of this system. It is my understanding that through these initiations the atomic spin of every molecule in the human body of the student receiving this attunement is speeded up. This allows the energy of the student to more perfectly blend with the energy of the angels which are their constant companions after this initiation’.

    Bagua

The Bagua is a flexible template, which may be placed over the plans of a home/office/garden so that it correlates with the directions of the compass, and is divided into eight main sections. The Bagua encompasses the principles of Yin & Yang, The Five Elements, the Eight Trigrams (or 8 universal energies), and 9 star Ki Astrology.

    Bazhai

Bazhai reflects upon the stars in the sky (astrology), and calculates our ‘Ming Gua’ number, which tells us our most auspicious and inauspicious directions and locations to sleep, study, cook etc. People and houses are descibed as being ‘West 4′ or ‘East 4′, and we tend to get on better with people and buildings that share our group. If people do not share the same group as their home, then we seek to support them by positioning the front door, bed and stove in locations that are favorable to them, and if this is not possible, use 5 element cures to support them.

    Chod

In this ceremony, Sue weaves together ceremonial chocolate (raw cacao), laughter yoga, cathartic release with sound and movement, and a ceremony to create more joy in ourselves and the world. The day will end with a celebration with dancing and live & recorded music. The Chocolate Laughter Ceremony is designed to firstly create the opportunity to feel into parts of your shadow self and let go of energy that prevents you from living with more joy, and then to fill this space with love, joy and playfulness. You can go as lightly or as deeply with this process as you wish, and will be held…

    Entity & entity release

Entity Release sounds like a scary business, but although it does need handling carefully, it is actually ‘compassion’ that is the key to a successful healing.

What is an entity? An entity could be a discarnate human that is trapped in the astral (eg some body who dies in a sudden accident and doesn’t realise that they have died). They could be a benign or a malevolent spirit, thought form or energy form with an identity.

Where do they come from? Most commonly they are passed down the family ancestral line. They can also come from hospitals, prisons, pubs, clubs & parties, alcohol and recreational drug use, prescription drug use, emotional shocks, sex, blood transfusions and organ transplants, exhaustion, physical trauma, repetitive thoughts, addictions, media, films (especially horror, violence or pornography), religious and cultural institutions and illnesses.

    Symptoms of having entities

    1. Lack of will power

    2. Addictions eg food, sugar, shopping, alcohol, tobacco, drugs

    3. Compulsive behaviour

    4. Fear, confusion, doubt, sleepiness, guilt, gossiping, lying, nightmares, hearing voices, sensation of being watched, self-harming, people who love horror films, self-sabotage, hysteria, depression, criminal behaviour, violence, repeated emotional reaction eg anger, jealousy, lust, gluttony, hatred, aggression.

    5. Feeling uncomfortable in a particular room in the house (if an entity is attached to a place)

How to release an entity? The good news is that entities can be released in a healing session. With compassion, I can connect with the entity and safely guide it to go to the light, so releasing both the entity, and the client from the parasitic relationship.

    Form

Form is the first and oldest style of Feng Shui, and some would say it accounts for 50 – 80% of the importance in a Feng Shui consultation. It studies the orientation of a building in relationship with the land and water, and how qi (energy) flows and assembles in the space. In an urban situation, this translates to how a building relates to the surrounding buildings, roads, fences, trees and open spaces. The terms ‘mountain’ and ‘water’ may be literal or relate to stillness & support and movement respectively. The ‘sitting’ and ‘facing’ directions of a home are identified. Form also examines the positioning of rooms and furniture and the internal qi flow and assembly. Beds and seating areas are best placed in qi assembly areas.

    Flying Stars

Flying Stars is a spohisticated and ingenius form of Feng Shui that can unlock the wealth or health (and relationships) potential of a building. It is concerned with the qi (or energy) quality, direction and flow over time. It incorporates the concept of time and space which is measured form a seasonal and cyclic point of view. The nine segments of the bagua are also known as ‘palaces’ into which 3 numbers ‘fly’. These numbers are known as ‘stars’, which need to be activated or reduced, depending on their quality for that time period. The sitting (rear) and facing (front) palaces are the most important, since the facing reflects the wealth potential for the whole building, and the sitting direction reflects health and relationship potential. When a building has auspicious Flying Stars Feng Shui that is activated, it can open the doorway to excellent health and wealth.

The real skill with Flying Stars is in knowing not only how to interpret the charts but then how to apply this to the practical situation…

    Geopathic Stress

Geopathic Stress is a disruption to the Earth’s natural energy field causing harmful radiation to emanate from the Earth’s surface.

Natural Causes: Underground streams, faults and cavities.

Human Causes: Quarries, building foundations, roads, pylons, railways, battlegrounds, tree-felling and so on.

Effects: It is has not yet been scientifically proven, but many people believe that there is a link between living above geopathic stress and health problems ranging from poor sleep, irritability, and lethargy to depression and cancer.

The Good News: Similar to the way acupuncture can heal the lines of the body, a dowser that specializes in earth energies can detect any Geopathic Stress lines affecting your home or business, and use earth acupuncture, and other healing techniques, to harmonise it.

Technological solutions: There are also ‘Raditech’ devices you can buy that are said to neutralise geopathic stress.

harming, people who love horror films, self-sabotage, hysteria, depression, criminal behaviour, violence, repeated emotional reaction eg anger, jealousy, lust, gluttony, hatred, aggression.

    Guided meditation

This is an optional part of my Feng Shui consultation, which may or may not be your ‘cup of tea’! Some clients love it and others prefer to miss this out. The choice is yours. Clients may tap into their deepest intuition regarding their home. Topics to explore might be, for example:

    • What the home says about the occupant – home as metaphor
    • Client’s personal goals and how their home can support these goals
    • Vision of present home in the future
    • Choosing a new home
    • Insight into client’s purpose in life or future life-path

    Interior Alignment

Interior Alignment is an integral part of my Feng Shui consultations, and is best described as follows:

‘Interior Alignment is a beautiful system of evaluating and adjusting our environments. It blends the best of eastern Feng Shui and esoteric arts of many native based cultures with western practicality and flexibility. Instinctive Feng Shui works with Native American teachings, Celtic symbolism, traditional as well as contemporary feng shui practices, western astrology and healthy home concepts. Interior Alignment is all encompassing, spiritual, physical and mental.’

    Ming Gua Directionology

The Ming Gua number determines ones nature based on the date of birth. The Ming Gua number, which runs from number 1 to 9, is used to calculate the most auspicious and inauspicious directions and locations for people to sit and sleep.

    Nine Star Qi Astrology

Nine Star Qi is one of the oldest forms of Astrology. It may be used to understand your personality, understand the character and behaviour of others, assess compatibility between people, improve your relationships and analyze career suitability.

    Sick Building Syndrome

A ‘sick building’ is one where the building is thought to play a significant role in causing illness, low energy, poor sleep, negativity, lack of ease or high levels of absenteeism at work. Sick buildings are considered unhealthy because of a number of possible factors, which can combine to be a dangerous cocktail, particularly since they are mostly invisible, so they often go undetected:

    Geopathic Stress
Air quality: Gases/Bacteria. (Volatile Organic Compounds are gases produced by nylon carpets, laminate, printers, faxes, photocopiers etc)
    Electro-magnetic fields
    Microwaves
Feng Shui considerations such as colour and artwork that some find disturbing, or so-called ‘sha-qi’: energy that moves in a way that is sharp or cutting and too fast, due to the shape of buildings or surrounding structures.
In a Sick Building Consultation, issues may be located using professional meters and dowsing, and by removing them or suggesting practical ways to reduce them, converting a sick building into a healthy one.
